Young has been living in Singapore for the past six years with her two lovely daughters. One of them is working, while the other will be sitting for her A-levels this year. Young enjoys meeting new people, but she takes special delight in meeting Singaporeans. She says it helps her get a true taste of the local culture, which explains why she has many Singaporean friends.
Young’s love for cooking is inspired by her mother and mother-in-law. She whips up traditional Korean dishes with ease and believes that the key to becoming an outstanding cook, is to have love for the people whom one is preparing food for.
Her specialties include Ssuk Ddok (Handmade rice cake with pounded mugwort), Hobak Bu Chim Gae (Sliced zucchini pan cake) and Geon Bok Juk (Korean-style porridge with abalone). Young’s culinary influences also include celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay, Martha Stewart and the late Hwang Hye-seong, a researcher of Korean royal court cuisine.
