It was a grand debut for inaugural Tea for a Cause by Drool (TFAC) on 5 November 2016 as it opened its door to its first stream of guests at 12 noon sharp.
The stream hardly stopped and by event close at 4pm, some 400 partners, friends, volunteers, guests and members of the public have stopped by bearing food tickets bought priorly through friends as well as online.
Net proceeds from ticket sales go to event beneficiary, CampVision, a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering thousands of at-risk youths.
The TFAC crowd came to feast – both eyes and palates – for a good cause. And they were not disappointed. They tasted some of the best homecooked food and most beautiful bakes and desserts, and enjoyed a good flow of premium beverages and wine too.
They also caught up on fringe activities such as cooking demos and competition, as well as patronised artisanal food-stalls. Some even won big at the lucky draws, with the top three winners walking away with premium prizes of a Severin oven, Staycation for two at the Holiday Inn Hotel, even a 6-months membership at E’s Fitness. Our Eatlist Star participants also won prizes, courtesy of Green Pan, Lucerne and La Gourmand. Everyone went home with something – an amazing experience!
TFAC was first conceptualised some nine months ago, and what a beautiful baby it turned out to be when finally birthed. It was such a roaring success, many are already asking when’s the next TFAC!
Looking back, there were roadblocks, no doubt, but there were rewards too – the confidence of sponsors USA Poultry, Newby Premium Tea, Cata Coffee, Meat Collective, The Hunters’ Kitchenette, Benchmark Wines, Florida’s Natural in our product; the extraordinary teamwork of the working committee; the selfless giving on the part of our partner homechefs and bakers, the generous support of the many ticket donors… too many to name. Well, you know who you are – we could not have done it without your support!
The mission of Drool Cook Club is to create, to cook, and connect… and give to charity. At TFAC, it came to life.
To all the beautiful people whose friendship we may never have gained if not for TFAC: you’ve proven it is possible to eat to live, eat to give! We hope the experience has inspired the CampVision youths to pursue their dreams and live a life of passion and purpose!
